Glossary of Legal Terms
Regulation (EC) No 261/2004
A regulation in EU law establishing common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding, flight cancellations, or long delays of flights.
Extraordinary Circumstances
Events that are outside the control of the airline, such as bad weather, air traffic control restrictions, political instability, or hidden manufacturing defects. If a delay is caused by these, compensation is usually not payable.
No Win, No Fee
A payment agreement where the client (you) only pays for legal services if the case is successful. If we do not recover compensation for you, you do not pay us anything.
Denied Boarding
When an airline refuses to allow a passenger on a flight, usually due to overbooking (selling more tickets than seats), despite the passenger having a valid ticket and arriving on time.
Power of Attorney
A legal document you sign that authorizes AirDeelay.com to act on your behalf. This allows us to talk to the airline, submit claims, and even take legal action in your name to get your money back.
